Richard Ross

Richard Ross is an American photographer, researcher, and journalist with a career spanning over 40 years. Having done extensive editorial and documentary work, his images and writing have been published in the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Vogue, the Guardian, Newsweek, Time, Adbusters, Discovery, and many more. Ross was the principal photographer for the Getty Conservation Institute from 2001-2004, documenting many of their cultural heritage sites throughout the world.

Several books have resulted from Richard’s travels and projects, including Museology, a behind-the-scenes look at some of the world’s most prominent museums; Gathering Light, an exploration of light as subject, taking readers to enchanting locations throughout the globe; Waiting for the End of the World, a rarely seen glimpse into the most elaborate bomb shelters and underground edifices worldwide. Ross is a member of the Society of American Travel Writers.
